Root Canal / Endodontics

A root canal is a dental procedure that removes infected or inflamed tissue from the inner part of a tooth called the pulp. The pulp contains nerves, blood vessels, and connective tissue that nourish and support the tooth. When the pulp becomes infected from deep decay, repeated dental procedures, or tooth trauma, it often causes intense pain, swelling, and sometimes abscesses. A root canal treatment involves removing the damaged pulp, cleaning and disinfecting the root canals, and filling them with a biocompatible material. The tooth is then restored with a filling or crown to protect it from further damage.
